Our mission
Our mission is to persuade the Mauritian people — and people elsewhere in the world – of the importance and urgency of adopting and implementing effective and comprehensive solutions for the climate crisis.
The Challenge
Projected impacts of climate change range from increased intensity of hurricanes to the melting of glaciers and ice shelves around the world, the destabilization of Greenland and the West Antarctic ice sheet, the melting of the arctic ice cap, the spread of tropical diseases into new latitudes, the acidification of the world’s ocean waters, increased drought and soil moisture evaporation, increased incidence of wildfires, increased flooding and vulnerability of coastal regions from sea level rise and associated storm surges, destruction of coral reefs, increased species extinction, and deaths from heat waves.Therein lies our task - to educate people from all walks of life that addressing the climate crisis is uniquely urgent and that mobilization to solve it at home, at work and in civic life must start immediately.

We shall persuade people of the importance, urgency and feasibility of adopting and implementing effective and comprehensive solutions for the climate crisis.
Our efforts include:
Moving all major political parties and all sectors of civil society compete to offer genuinely effective proposals, policies, programs and laws that will sharply reduce emissions of CO2, methane and other greenhouse gas pollutants. Creating a critical mass of public opinion in support of reducing global greenhouse gas pollution.
Persuading individuals, families, communities, states, corporations and other organizations to begin to quickly and meaningfully reduce their own global warming pollution in order to become ‘carbon neutral.'

RÉCHAUFFEMENT DE LA PLANÈTE: Un SOS des étudiants du New Educational College
Des étudiants de cet établissement de Bel-Air-Rivière-Sèche viennent de mettre sur pied un “SOS Environment Club”. Leur principal objectif : sensibiliser les gens en vue de réduire l’émission de gaz nocifs dans l’atmosphère.
Des étudiants du club, ici en compagnie du prof Rehaz Seeroo, montrent un vif intérêt à la protection de l’environnement.
“La planète se réchauffe et nous nous dirigeons vers une catastrophe mondiale en ce 21e siècle”. C’est l’extrait d’une brochure intitulée Stop Global Warming et distribuée par des étudiants du New Educational College (NEC) de Bel-Air-Rivière-Sèche aux habitants de la région.
