NEC SOS Environment Club Spreading the word
There is no more
important cause than the call to action to save our
planet.
We signed up to join the Stop Global Warming Virtual March and we
encourage you to add your voice as well. Global warming is the most urgent
issue of our time and since we are all contributors to global warming pollution
we must all be part of the solution. Joining us is a first step
to joining the movement to demand solutions now.
Our mission is
to use the strength of numbers to urge our government to address global warming,
and urge businesses to start a new industrial revolution of clean energy that
reduces our dependence on oil and helps stop global
warming.
Together we can make a
difference.

Well i must say lads that the Global Warming shit is really serious and I really appreciate that your institution (eventhough pretty small) is trying to make a campaign against the GLOBAL WARMING.
I like the reference to the Former Vice President Albert Arnold "Al" Gore, Jr.'s documentary The Inconvenient truth.
Even though the work you are doing is remarkable and honorable i must say that it might not be recognize by many or even by no one...
Lets be realistic, Mauritius is a pretty small island with great cultural diversity but with a crumbling ECONOMY. We do have great political and ecological contacts all through out the vast world but, i presume that you are aware that none of these super powers gives a damn about us and our ideologies.
Its true that they are always talking about Global warming and always trying to find a way to solve that very serious problem but all the actions that are actually taking are just mere acts to bluff the eyes of others.
Most of there act is not even serious and is actually not helping our dying planet. So if you lads want to do anything to go against global warming it presume it should be more than a WEBSITE. You might have already started to do stuffs but I kind of doubt that the Mauritian people will accept that.
Realize that our economy is going to hit rock bottom sooner than later, an that the Mauritian citizen are not willing to implement any ecological actions in their everyday living, business or even their lifestyle. And its all because we CANNOT AFFORD THAT.
I really respect that great cause of yours and hope that you will succeed to achieve something cause everyone must admit that the greatest of all are actually the smallest of all, but we must always consider the very fact that we live in a predefined system who has its own rule and regulations and once you go against them the system just wipes you out...
Anyway, My best wishes are with you guys and my good luck too...

It is encouraging to see that youth is understanding the urgency of the situation. This gives us hope for the future as you are not only talking but taking actions.

Well I appreciate the effort and initiative taken by you to sensitise public opinion on the need to protect our environment and drive home the fact that the land is given to us as legacy to preserve for others.I wish you all the best in your endeavour.

Dear Fellow Students and Teachers,
It is undoubtedly very encouraging initiatives you all have taken to "STOP GLOBAL WARMING". However, i think that there is a lack of awareness among people. People are thinking that "It does not concern me. I am not polluting".
I think you people should bring forward some awareness among common people.
I would like to congratulate all of you for whatever you are doing. As it is rightly been said "Every long journey starts with a single first step". Hope your first step will echo around the world.
Best Wishes
Nishal

I'll get back to you in detail later. I have sat on national climate change committees. Could I have contact names for more personal communication? For the moment I'll just give one brain teaser on fighting climate change. Air conditioners cool inside of buildings and vehicles, but increase warming of outside atmosphere, which is THE problem number one concerning climate change; are you ready to avoid using air conditioners? Let me have some feedback and I'll continue.

Your team is doing a marvelous job. One suggestion is to campaign for ONE million tree planting program in our beautiful Island--A BIRTHDAY TREE for every mauritian to plant and grow for ONE YEAR would make ONE MILLION TREE in our country.

From my point of view, it is a first class reaction by those students who are working on this project to fight against tides to free the earth from this crisis. Their ideas and delivrance to achieve their objectives are seem to be a clear one . They are not concentrating just on written basis but most of it they are putting it in action side by side. So i feel proud of you all and remain focus on your aims and objectives. Keep it up.....

Good job! At least you are not only observing and understanding the problem, but at least acting as well. All others can act as well - by adopting simple methods like saving energy, avoiding using products having CFC, and also sharing knowledge that you acquire with others, your parents, nighbours and friends. Don't forget, we need to hand over to our future generation a clean and serene environment, one worthy living in. Think of the disease SIDA - each individual can take precaution so as not to be infected, but global warming is a 'global' problem. Each and everyone should give a helping hand in stopping this problem from becoming worse and worse. so go ahead! We are with you!

we have appreciated the efforts and initiatives, and specially the talk show in our institution. The talk show was well organised and has created an awareness among our students. Good luck....
